tutorial-pictureOn this post you will learn how easy it is to collect your first bookmark. If you have improvement ideas, or encounter any difficulty, please let us know.

Step 1: Installation

In order to cut your first bookmark, you have to install a small button (a bookmarklet) in your browser toolbar. To make the installation easier for you, you have the possibility to take the automatic install (that will open your browser toolbar and put the Wozaik button in it for you). You have to give us the rights to install it for you, that is why you get a security message prompted :

Don’t worry, we are not installing any software on your computer. To “uninstall” Wozaik, you just have to delete the wozaik button (right-click and select delete)

If you don’t want to let us install the button for you, or if your browser do not let us to do so, you can do it manually. Most of the time, it is just a drag and drop to do.

Once your button is installed, your browser will look like that :

Bravo! Installation is done. A short tutorial will now show you how to cut your first bookmark.

Step 2: Cutting your first bookmark

The short tutorial will redirect you to the Google homepage and suggest you to bookmark the Google search bar.

This can be achieved in four easy steps:

1 – Click on your Wozaik button on your browser toolbar
install-step12

2 – Select the dashed area with your mouse
install-step2

3 – Click on confirm. It’s done, your personal space has been created and you first bookmark has been added to it.

4 – Now go back on wozaik.com to discover your personal space (you can click on the link displayed on the upper right corner of your screen).

Step 3: Discover your personal space

Surprise, your first bookmark is waiting for you!.

Personal Space

Now try your first bookmark: enter keywords in your Google Bookmark search bar and click enter: a new tab is opened with the result of your search. Your bookmark is interactive, you can directly search Google from your personal space.

It is now time to register (clicking on the register button on the right) to save your account and having the possibility to reach it from any computer.

You are done. Your first personal account is set and you have learnt how to cut your first bookmark. Now go to your favorite websites and try cutting what you like the most to access it directly from your personal space.

    Hi Fabien,

Actually we plan to release an API. Let us know what you would like to do with it to help us to design it.

Well, I think you could provide to kind of things… but I’ve ask this for my own curiosity…

1/ For the website which are “bookmarked” with your techs, some informations (and reporting tools like google analytics or some tools to do likes).

2/ Provide a API to diplay some ‘best bookmarked’ by categories for exemple… I think for example to a news sites, a external tag cloud with your system could be fun.

The matter I think is people use API as is… For example, the youtube API isn’t the better one, but we use it to do only what youtube want to permit us… (I don’t know if I was really clear :-/)

If you release an API, I think some developers will ask you some fonctionnalities… the hard way will be to do something ‘generic’ with the problems of each one.

Just for more information about what I want to do with your API release…

I think your web app is great but I want to use it with a smartphone. So I think it will be better to develop an spĂ©cialised application (3 in fact… for each main smart OS).

These apps should takes care about the user interfaces (for displaying the same thing evenif you use an iPhone or a Google Phone). In fact the matter is just to connecting the device to a web service… a great fonctionnality could be to permit to use our bookmarks without any connection… (but with an synchronization system for sharing… like a push).

    So, it’s just an idea… ;-)

But as I wait for my visas to go to Montréal to work (my first one !!!) I have some times to play with Internet and its technologies ! ;-)

    Cya.
